THE PSYCHOLOGY OF PERCEPTIONThe Concepts of NumbersOur visual perception utilizes the neural and optical sensor called the human eye, the brain and the actuators to move the eyes. When light stimulates the visual neurons electrical impulses are send to the brain. However, before a signal reaches the brain a lot of preprocessing is done. GroupingOne very interesting aspect of visual perception is the ability to group objects. Furthermore, the number of elements in a grouping is computed simultaneously up to the number 4. This can be measured by taking the time to count elements. Having more than 4 elements will increase the time significantly. |
